Whitney Myer is a soul singer gone rogue. Teasing the lines of RnB and Rock n Roll, her electrifying live performances mesmerize audiences and have earned her featured appearances at Lightning in a Bottle, The Bounce Festival, and SXSW. Drawing inspiration from musicians like Prince, Little Dragon, and Bjork; Whitney Myer has shared the stage with the likes of Allen Stone, DEV, and Fitz And The Tantrums.

Whitney Myer jetted on to the scene after wowing Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton on NBC’s singing competition “The Voice” in 2012, after her show stopping rendition of Alicia Keys “No One” turned the chairs of all four judges in a frenzy to claim her for their teams. Later that year Whitney released her first solo EP “The Articles of Luminous Nature” which highlights not only her soulful voice but also her focused musical prowess as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, experimenting for the first time with electronic elements that could be recreated for live performances.

Whitney Myer grew up in a musical household. Her father and uncle played in 90’s ska band The Mudsharks, touring the US with big name acts including No Doubt and Sublime. Whitney grew up in the moshpits of Mudsharks concerts and developed an appreciation for music and live performance on a molecular level. By the time she was 13 Whitney had begun writing her own music and with the help of her Mudsharks family she was performing on stage and recording her first album “Last Days” within the year.

Whitney continued to develop her musical skills while earning her degree from the University of Nevada, following graduation Whitney took her music career to the next level with her second album “Dream Killer” in 2010. “Dream Killer” launched Whitney in to the public eye, with home town publication the Reno News & Review declaring the work Best Album, the band voted Best Band, and Whitney voted Best Musician three years in a row. The album skyrocketed the band not only to popularity in her home town of Reno, but earned Whitney a reputation as a powerhouse performer up and down the West Coast. The project was a success, allowing the band to buy a tour bus and begin traveling the country. The Whitney Myer band played more than 165 shows between 2011 and 2012, including an appearance at South By Southwest in Austin, TX.

During a rare free weekend Whitney had an uncharacteristic urge to drive the four hours to San Francisco for an impromptu audition for NBC’s “The Voice,” using the car ride to select and rehearse an audition piece. Six months later 6 million Americans watched in awe as she sang to judges Christina Aguilera, Cee lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton and accomplished the rare feat of being offered a coveted spot on each judges’ competition team.

After “The Voice,” Whitney was inspired to re-invigorate her music and perform from a deeper, more personal standpoint. To do this, she had to break away from the comfort of the band that was literally her family and make music that was completely her own. After finishing the band’s final album “The End of the Beginning” she began writing songs from a deeper and more emotional perspective. The Articles of Luminous Nature EP is a creative project that allows Whitney to blend musical styles, from hip-hop to electronica to RnB, and creatively reinterpret her life experiences in a truly honest and unfettered way.
